Pick Me Up Graphic Arts celebrates graphic arts in all its shapes and forms. The festival, returning for its seventh year, unites emerging and established artists from recent graduates to the celebrated master of graphic art Alan Kitching for what promises to be an exciting 12 days.
A special edition to this year’s festival is a retrospective exhibition of Kitching, one of the world’s foremost typographers and printmakers. A Life in Letterpress will feature over 100 prints (some featured here), many of which will be for sale, charting his career from apprentice to world-renowned designer.
On show will be a varied disciplines with graphic art links including illustration, animation, 3-D installations, ceramics and stationery. The festival will also host a diverse programme of daily talks and workshops.
Visitors will be able to produce their own pieces in the workshops led by the resident artists. Throughout the festival, the public can turn their hands to screen printing tote bags, posters and stickers, book binding and pottery.
The Spinach creative team will certainly be heading there.
